Around the historic downtown on Salem Street, homes are older, lots are smaller and street parking can be tight.
NC-540 around Apex is a toll road with no cash booths. If you drive a rental truck on it, the toll goes to the rental company, which bills it back to you, sometimes with a fee. Check your rental’s toll policy, or plan a route without it.
