What to have ready
Have the truck or container there when the crew arrives, and tell us what moving blankets, straps or dollies you already have so we know what to bring. We are not affiliated with U-Haul, Penske, Budget, PODS or any container company; we are listed on the U-Haul Moving Help marketplace.
NO TRUCK YET?
Three ways to get your things from A to B.
We bring the crew whichever way you choose. Pick what fits your move:
- Rent a truck and drive it yourself. U-Haul, Penske and Budget rent trucks from about 10 to 26 feet. We load it at your old place, unload it at the new one, or both.
- Book a portable container. PODS, U-Box, U-Pack and 1-800-PACK-RAT drop a container in your driveway, you take your time, and the company hauls it. We load or unload it on the day you choose.
- Ask us to bring a truck. Say so in your quote request or on the phone and we will price it for your job.
ONE ADDRESS OR BOTH
Load here, unload there.
A move with two addresses is one job. We load at the first address, follow the truck to the second and unload. Send both addresses and we quote it as one job, with any travel included in the quote. Only need one end? Book loading only or unloading only; you never have to book both.
PODS · U-BOX · U-PACK · PACK-RAT
Loading or unloading a moving container.
A container loads differently from a truck. It sits at ground level, opens at one end and travels on someone else’s trailer, so we build the load in tight sections, spread the weight evenly and tie off each section before starting the next. Tell us the container size (most are 8, 12 or 16 feet) and where it will be placed; a level spot near the door makes a shorter carry. We are not affiliated with any container company.
HOW WE LOAD
Truck or container: what the crew does differently.
Good loading is the same idea either way: heavy items low and forward, soft items filling gaps, nothing sliding. The details differ.
- Rental truck: we use the ramp, load in tiers from front to back, put the heaviest pieces against the cab wall and strap each tier.
- Container: ground level, loads from one end, so we build it in sections, keep the weight even side to side and tie off as we go.
- Either way, tell us what you already have: moving blankets, straps, a dolly. Then we know what to bring.
MOVING TO THE TRIANGLE?
Driving in with a loaded truck? Book the unloading.
If you are arriving from out of state with a rental truck or a container on the way, book unloading only at your new address. Give us the arrival day, a rough time and the truck size, and tell us which rooms the big pieces go in. If the drive runs late, text or call us and we will work out the timing together. Raleigh, Smithfield, Rocky Mount and Garner all sit on the highways people arrive on.

Loading & unloading: common questions
Do you bring a truck?
We can. Say so when you request a quote and we will price a truck for your job. Most customers rent their own U-Haul, Penske or Budget truck, or book a PODS or U-Box container, and we load it, unload it, or both. Either way works.
Do I have to book help at both addresses?
No. Book loading only, unloading only, or both. The form takes one address and lets you add a second.
Can you load a PODS, U-Box or U-Pack container?
Yes. Tell us the container size and where it will sit. We load it in tight sections, spread the weight and tie off as we go so nothing shifts on the road.
Who supplies moving blankets and straps?
Tell us what you have. Rental companies rent blankets and dollies as add-ons, so check what came with your truck. If you need more, say so in your request and Joey will sort it out with you.
What if my truck or container is delayed?
Text or call us as soon as you know. We will look at the crew’s day and find a new time that works; the earlier we hear, the more options there are.
How much does loading help cost?
$90 an hour for two movers in the daytime, $81 an hour from hour 4, two-hour minimum $180. Three movers are $130 an hour. Work from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. costs 25% more. See the moving costs page for examples.
Can I book you through U-Haul Moving Help?
Yes. We are listed on the U-Haul Moving Help marketplace, and our listing there uses the same daytime crew rates as this site (checked September 10, 2026). Booking direct through this site, a text or a call works just as well.
